Here is a classic Japanese hair comb and hair pin set in wood and gold lacquer. The comb or kushi is the traditional half moon shape with a subtle floral design made by a technique called taka mak-ie.

The hair pin or kogai is of the type which comes apart in the middle to allow it to be inserted into the hair. It has a complementary design.
