Large Handpainted Kutani 1940s Porcelain Vase Geisha Peonies Mt. Fuji Japan

Colorful hand painted Japanese souvenir vase, at 13 height larger than usually seen. As shown in the last photo a dedication had been written on the base of the vase with date 1940, which points to a manufacturing date prior to that time. The hand painted design features a group of three geishas, one perhaps a child walking in a garden of peony flowers with Mt. Beautiful curved outline with gilded Kutani Style accents at the rim and base. Dimensions are 13 height, 4.25" diameter at base, 3.75" opening.

Circumference at widest point 23. As shown the gilding does show signs of age related wear on top of the rim if it had indeed been painted in gold. There is small bubble shaped opening in the glaze which looks like an embedded ash speck which must have occurred during firing. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Vases".
