This beautiful vibrant, Japanese scroll "Uki Yo e" was a gift to a close friend's parents from a neighbor, who was the mother of Walter Schirra, Jr. The only astronaut to fly in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. Rare scroll, rare beauty of the Japanese woman to find online. See the photo of her note to his parents. The scroll is intact with the exception of a tear at the bottom and top where it has come loose from the roller. The words on the box translate as Peony, white bird.

Although the scroll did not originally come with this box, it is an amazing antique item, well made and it does has some value. Length 70" wide 20.5". This fabulous and rare collectible item.
