A colorful and hand painted porcelain of a Japanese Geisha with a back drop of peony flowers. She is still a bookend and is heavy and will hold up your books. The molded porcelain figural bookend is of a Geisha sitting along a wall.

She is reading a scroll while taking in the peony blossoms. She is intricately painted in over glaze enamels. The bookend has a flat base with a hole for the firing process. There are remnants of an old red and white paper label with no text on the base. 6 ½" (16.5 cm) tall x 6 ¼" (15.9 cm) wide x 4 ¾ (12.1 cm) deep.

Weighs 2 lbs 5.2 oz (1050 g). There are no cracks, or breaks. There is a tiny chip on the rear of the back. There is wear to the orange glaze on the back, particularly along the top edge and corner.

There is also wear to the glazes along the bottom edge. Otherwise, the glazes are still bright and fresh. A very intricate bookend with much detail and precise painting. Black, Green, Orange, Pink, White. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian Antiques\Japan\Dolls".
