This is a really beautiful antique Satsuma pottery vase that would date from around the 1900s to 1920s. On the bottom it is fully signed by the artist underneath the crest for the Shimazu family. I tried to do a little research online but could not find the artist's name. The vase itself is in just about perfect condition.
There are no cracks or chips anywhere. The glaze of course is crackled like every piece of Satsuma pottery. It has a beautiful hand-painted design of 2 geisha girls standing on a dock in front of a temple with pagoda.
On the left side of the girls is an image of Mount Fuji. In the very foreground is hanging sakura or cherry blossom. The vase measures 7.25" tall with a diameter of 3.5" at the widest. It has all its original gold paint around the top rim.
